The month of May in Indianapolis is all about the Indy 500 and to celebrate the 108th running of the Greatest Spectacle in Racing, the St. Augustine Home held its 35th Annual Mini 500 event on Thursday, May 16th.
The day’s events started with the singing of the National Anthem and Back Home Again in Indiana by residents, followed by a parade around our front circle that included the Indianapolis 500 Gordon Pipers, the Indianapolis 500 Princesses, and even an official Indianapolis 500 pace car!
After the parade, both residents and staff participated in a variety of events, from walking races to wheelchair “pit stop” races to tire rolling. We even had some students from Brebeuf High School entertain everyone with a hilarious and wild tricycle race!
The event ended with some dancing and ice cream. Thanks to all the volunteers who came out and helped make sure our Residents had a fun time and made this year’s Mini 500 a great success!
