Association Jeanne Jugan

The Association Jeanne Jugan is comprised of lay persons who are responding to God’s call to share the spirit and the apostolic mission of the Little Sisters of the Poor, following the example of Saint Jeanne Jugan.

After a year-long preparation, Associates have the grace-filled opportunity to exercise their call through prayer, service and hospitality to the elderly poor.

Approved by the Church in 1998, the Association Jeanne Jugan follows the path of “evangelical joy and hope” encouraged by Pope Saint John Paul II. The Association Jeanne Jugan can be found on all five continents.

Providing a valuable and welcome support, forms of service include:

  • prayer and the offering of one’s sacrifices and sufferings for the mission of the Little Sisters of the Poor
  • hospitality outreach, in particular, individual visits with Residents and end-of-life vigil alongside the Little Sisters
  • strengthening catechetical and pastoral initiatives
  • participating in life enrichment and meaningful engagement with the elderly and
  • other services for the poor

The Little Sisters of the Poor invite Catholic women and men, 18 years and older, who are seeking a greater spiritual vitality to take the plunge to deepen their faith.

After a period of spiritual formation, new Jeanne Jugan Associates make a public promise, a commitment that is renewed annually in May under the patronage of St. Joseph the Worker.

Lend a Helping Hand and Volunteer

Our Little Sisters and staff do all that they can for the elderly Residents in our Home, but a visit from you would truly brighten the day of our St. Augustine Home family members.

You too can discover the wisdom and beauty of the elderly through the many volunteer opportunities which exist at St. Augustine Home.

Whether you volunteer to help serve our Residents at meal times or stroll with one of them in our garden while listening to their life stories, your presence touches the elderly who live here.

Volunteering is a wonderful way to share your time and talents with others, and in return, to experience joy yourself as you brighten someone’s day!

Individuals, families and groups are welcome!

Ongoing Volunteer Needs include:

  • Assisting with activities
